DAY 090

Oooh, so close to triple digits! Which means we're closer to halfway, which means we're closer to a year, which means this is the longest New Year's Resolution I have ever kept. Wowowowow.

Also, temporary (or maybe not, depending on if I can find someone with a slide scanner) photos are posted for the days I used my dad's old Olympus with slide film: DAY 006, DAY 028, DAY 030, and DAY 043. Now I'm only one roll behind being completely updated!

DAY 089

This morning I went to the gym with a friend. While we were doing ab exercises with a medicine ball, I looked away and got hit in the face. I can be such a dumbass sometimes. Luckily, I only cut my lip - my nose, teeth, eyes, and face are all intact! I had to rush to class, so I didn't have time to take a picture when it was still swollen (it was big, like bad botox big) but this is what the inside cut looks like:

DAY 088

Hickeys from the UK!

DAY 087

Today's photo (taken with the $3) is of Loosine's newly manicured hands grasping the 10.5-lb watermelon that I got from Ralph's. Tomorrow I'll cut that baby up, freeze half, and eat the rest raw.

DAY 086

Also, I've posted for two rolls of film - one from the fisheye, and one from the $3. See DAY 007, DAY 026, DAY 036, DAY 047, DAY 049, DAY 050, DAY 051, DAY 052, DAY 056, DAY 063, DAY 068, DAY 072, DAY 077, and finally, DAY 079! Unfortunately a couple of the pictures didn't come out, so I posted consolation prize photos instead.

DAY 085

City with sister: we did a quick loop of Haight, and I'm pretty sure we spent more time in traffic than we did walking around! Here's the best of the nonchalant glamour shots:

Also, a window in my house with beautiful lighting:

DAY 084

Today ended up being surprisingly lovely. I slept in (unlike most of this break), worked more on applying for internships, went to the high school track meet (today's photos), bummed around there for a while, then went rollerblading around Redwood Shores with Ari and Robert. We talked about how Redwood Shores is built on a landfill. It's kind of amazing if you think about it: an entire city of suburbia built on manmade land. It used to be MarineWorld, before it was made into housing, and the trainers used to practice in the canals. SERIOUSLY.

DAY 083

Boba. As usual. Except that Tap Ex is now called Osha Teas? Oh well, the only thing that's changed is the name.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

DAY 082

Today's photo is of the bruise on my knee, which I got when I fell off my longboard. On the bright side, now I know that skating down Landfair in the middle of the street is not a good idea. The bruise has undergone an amazing transformation from red to yellow to green to blue to purple - I think it's gone through every single bruise color possible. If only I had started documenting it earlier! Next time.

Monday, March 22, 2010

DAY 081

Today's photo is of Robert's hands playing the piano. Second contender was a photo of the chocolate fondue at Ari's, but Robert's skill won out over chocolate's deliciousness.

Also, two of the film rolls have been developed, thanks to Costco! I feel like there are some photos missing, but I may be imagining that. Photos to be posted as soon as I can sort them and scan them.

DAY 080

Today ended up being way better than I expected. After I came back from a morning run, my mom suggested that we drive along Skyline and look for trails that we could hike through. We ended up stumbling upon an area of the open space preserve that we had never known existed. It's amazing - there are all these gorgeous trails that look over the coast, less than 30 minutes from my house, that I had never known existed. It's ridiculous how I've lived in the same city in the same house for all my life and there's still so much about this area that I don't know.

Anyway, though the views were amazing, I couldn't figure out how to get a good picture of them. My pictures just make everything look so 2D. Instead, I took a picture of my dad and I in the reflection of my mom's sunglasses.

Saturday, March 20, 2010

DAY 079

Today's photo is of one of the random streets in my neighborhood, taken with the fisheye. I'm not sure if the fisheye will do anything to the photo - the street already looks messed up because it's on a crazy hill! I also took a picture of my feet on someone else's driveway but I'm not sure if it'll come out because it was the last photo on the roll. Hopefully, I'll be able to go to Costco tomorrow and finally get these rolls developed. :)

DAY 078

I drove from LA to Belmont today. I didn't mind it at all because I like driving and I like long car rides, as long as we're moving fast. And we were definitely moving fast - we made it home in 5 hours!

Today's photo of the day is of the tulips on a windowsill in our kitchen. Laraine got them for her birthday and took them out of the container they came in, placing each single tulip in an old salad dressing bottle. They look completely gorgeous.

(Sorry, photos will be uploaded when I return to LA. I forgot my connector cord again.)

DAY 077

Today's photos-of-the-day were taken in Santa Monica on the bridge that crosses over PCH, taken with the fisheye. FINALS ARE DONE! Hence, beach trip.

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

DAY 076

Today's photo-of-the-day was taken with the Ikimono and is of the trees on Bruin Walk as you walk up the steps to campus. They're angular and bare, except for a few bright green leaves.

Heck, this turned out to be a really boring shot!

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

DAY 075

This is the view from our balcony 10 seconds before midnight yell. I never realized how great midnight yell was until I moved into an apartment. Here, at midnight, the entirety of Westwood erupts into ear-splitting screams, bellows, shrieks, groans, tarzan calls, yells, yodels, and cussing. It's like a grand symphony of stress relief, and it's nice to know we're all in this together.

Monday, March 15, 2010

DAY 074

Today's photo of the day is of my eyes (hopefully - it depends on if I aimed the camera correctly!) taken with the Ikimono.

I love the colors and crazy shadows of this picture. This is not how I imagined this picture to come out at all - what a surprise!

Sunday, March 14, 2010

DAY 073

In honor of pi(e) day today, I baked a pie. It was sour cream apple flavored and, unfortunately, like many of the things I cook, it came out looking like shit. But it tasted pretty darn good. Don't be fooled by appearances:

Also, this is Lisa's neck, photographed after she consumed two slices of pie (click to see in greater detail):

DAY 072

I went to the beach today. I started out studying, but I ended up swimming. It was cold and refreshing. Goal for next quarter: go to the beach at least 10 times! Lisa and I have vowed to work together to become more tan and more blond.

I used the $3 camera to take one picture of Lisa Mondorf in the parking structure stairwell, one picture of the water, and one picture of the insane clouds that were rolling in as we left.

Also, update on the pie for pi day! I finished the dough:

DAY 071

I love how these irises have started curling back in on themselves:

Thursday, March 11, 2010

DAY 070

Today I finally ate the starfruit that's been putrefying in my fridge! It was expensive but worth it.

Here are Loosine and Laraine's o-faces while eating their first piece of starfruit:

DAY 069

This afternoon, I helped set up the standee for Hot Tub Time Machine (well, more like I sat around and watched someone else more qualified set it up)! It was really cool talking to the guy while he put the cardboard pieces together. His name was Ivan and he apparently makes a pretty decent living doing this all day. He drives around from city to city to set up different cardboard contraptions for different movies. He told me how some standees can take up to two hours to set up, and he'd do multiple set-ups in a day. Since he does so much for the movie studios, he basically gets in free to any movie he wants. He can just walk into any theatre and watch a movie for free. Cool, huh? He also learns random things about celebrities. Did you know, for example, that Will Smith has a lazy eye? Neither did I. Anyway, this is a shot from the standee:

Also, Alli Quan discovered the secret to the "take a pitcha, leave tha camra" that I found. Look for the one with the red-checkered shoes - that's me!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

DAY 068

Today's photo-of-the-day is an extreme close-up of the faces of Rachel Alonso, Tom Kinzinger, and Kristin Harkey at tonight's sneak!

I thought I lost this photo also, but then it turns out it was just on another roll that I hadn't developed yet. Duh.

Monday, March 8, 2010

DAY 067

While looking for new ways to procrastinate today, I started playing around with long exposure shots! Before I could get too far, my battery died, and I had to go back to writing about Kant and Longinus. But I did manage to get a shot of four of my feet:

DAY 066

Today, the sky was exquisite. Too bad I spent most of it inside working on papers.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

DAY 065

This is the pizza that set off the fire alarm. (Tomato sauce, tomatoes, red onions, bacon, avocado, and no cheese except for some parmesan that I sprinkled on later.) Today is also Day 65, meaning that there are 300 days left in this mission!

Friday, March 5, 2010

DAY 064

YES:

Hanna Linstadt and John Krasinski. That's Emily Blunt's hair behind him to the left.

Thursday, March 4, 2010

DAY 063

Today's photo-of-the-day is of Jake Perkowski in sunglasses in semi-sunny weather on the day of the strike not striking but instead about to go get food and enjoy his free hour of no class, taken with the fisheye.
