DAY 212

I had lunch with Loosine, who just got back less than a week ago from study abroad in Spain. She went at the best time possible - at the height of the World Cup - so she was there for the massive country-wide celebration of Spain's victory. So lucky! I took a picture of her with the Fisheye outside Thank You Mart (which I refer to as "the $3.99 store"). She posed like a pro after having taken so many photos in front of fountains and sculptures in Spain.

Also, I just dropped off a roll from the Ikimono to get developed. Wait time is 17-21 business days. !!!

Goddam Fisheye photos did not come out!

DAY 211

Brought the Fisheye to work today, where I took a picture at one of the exhibits that is now closing, Monsters and Miracles, which is about Jewish picture books. At the end of the exhibit, there was a photobooth where you could take your picture, then paste it to a card and write down your favorite book from the exhibit. Kim and I ended up having a little too much fun with the booth...

The Fisheye photo didn't come out but this one did...

DAY 210

I am working hard to take more pictures outside of the apartment! Today, I brought the $3 to work with me today even though we had another Sunset Concert, and I took a picture of the buffet dinner that I got to eat for free. The potatoes were divine.

DAY 209

Went home sick today.

DAY 208

Wow, time flies when you work 9-5, 5 days/week!

Anyway, today's photo of the day was taken with the Fisheye and it shows the courtyard outside our offices at the Skirball.

Photo didn't come out.

DAY 207

Aww, yeah! BEST SURPRISE EVER:

DAY 206

Another wild bike posse of Los Angeles. Here, the natives take over Wilshire, confusing cars and pedestrians alike:

DAY 205

I took a lot of photos with the Ikimono today because, each time, I thought it was the last shot. Then I'd take it and wind the film, and there'd still be another one. So, there are many photos of the day today, one taken at Sawtelle and some from my La Brea thrifting adventures with Johnny.

Excellent. This is exactly how I hoped these pictures would turn out!

DAY 204

Pomegranate in HD. I took this from the buffet last night:

DAY 203

Next Thursday, I'll be sure to bring a camera with me to the concert, but this Thursday I didn't so I took a picture the morning beforehand. Fisheye shot of the view from our new balcony to be developed and posted soon!

Photo didn't come out.

DAY 202

I keep forgetting to bring my camera with me to places.

DAY 199

More Fisheye shots, this time taken at the Santa Monica beach! I got tan/burned, but Ari just got dark.

Photos didn't come out. I opened the camera before the film got developed. :(

Saturday, July 17, 2010

DAY 198

Today's photos of the day consist of various shots taken with the Fisheye from Echo Park (lunch in a small Mexican food place) and Griffith Observatory (crowded lawn and a red sunset).

These photos didn't come out. :(

DAY 197

We have internet again.

DAY 196

Today ended up being super exciting! Flaunt sent the interns to the Volcom swim fashion show in Downtown LA, where we got to interview the head designer, Suzanne. The show took place at this super janky building that had a really nice penthouse with open bars and some pretty sweet views of the city. I felt like I wasn't cool enough to be there. Then we were given press passes, which was awesome, because we got to go backstage and take photos and interview the designer. It also meant that we got to sit front row and take pictures of the runway. After the show, the entire place turned into a dance floor and people streamed in, splashing vodka all over and dropping beer cans on the floor. Then I tried to drive home and got lost.

This city exhausts me but it's exciting.

DAY 195

Johnny T. knows what this first picture is about. The rest of the photos are from the White Noiz photoshoot!

DAY 194

New room, so many windows! (Well, it's only three, but still. That is enough to make me happy.)

Monday, July 12, 2010

DAY 193

The day our electricity got cut off, it was actually really pretty outside. Almost made up for it. But not quite.

Sunday, July 11, 2010

DAY 192

New apartment! It won't stay this clean for long, though...

Saturday, July 10, 2010

DAY 191

I don't think today's picture was very exciting. My dad and I spent most of the day moving almost everything I own from one apartment to another, and now I am completely exhausted. So, instead of spending time working to get a good photo, I spent most of my time hauling boxes up and down stairs, attempting to figure out how to take apart Loosine's bed frame, and trying to remember which dishes are mine and which belong to the five other girls I lived with. I think I took a grand total of about three pictures today, all of the the treasure we found beneath the seat cushions of the couch (quarter, nickels, dimes galore!). I will post the best of the three pictures soon, probably tomorrow!

DAY 190

Today's photo of the day was also taken with the $3, and it depicts a house near my internship. It looked very LA - white windowless van outside of a orange-y brick house covered with palm trees and a ton of green plants, and a bright blue sky in the background. Seriously, this picture is going to be neon!

This was seriously just as neon in real life!

DAY 189

For today's photo, I took a picture of the shirt that another intern at Flaunt was wearing. She made it herself and it looked awesome - it was a leather t-shirt but it had cut-outs in the back, two of which went along the sides and were filled with lace, and two on the shoulder blades. So cool. I'm jealous of her skills!

DAY 187

Today was a good day, despite me getting sick again.

This is also my first photo of the day taken with a webcam.

DAY 185

How many boys do you know that can jump over their girlfriends?

DAY 184

So, after half a year, I finally found a valid justification for having more than one photo of the day. For me, having a photo of the day helps me remember what happened. I'm not doing this project to take a perfect picture, but to learn how to take better photographs. Some days I take a lot of pictures that I like - there's something about each of them that describes a different part of the day. Together, they're like one big picture of what happened today.

For example, today started off with a lot of sitting around while Erica got ready and dealt with roommate issues. It felt really nice to do nothing. We lazed around in the living room while we waited:

Then we went to the beach and played with crustaceans:

DAY 182

I took a picture with the$3 at a free concert at the Hammer. A band called Saint Motel played and I liked them a lot. They were like a cross between the Foo Fighters and Les Savy Fav. They sounded very excited and joyful. It was nice to finally get out one evening after a week of work. Now I am exhausted and nearly collapsing. Night!

What..? Why did I take this picture?
