DAY 273

So...this picture wasn't actually taken before midnight. We went to a midnight showing of The Social Network and I totally forgot to take a picture before we left. However, in all fairness, this is exactly what it looked like before we left.

(Confession: this is also the second time I've slipped up on photo-of-the-day. I lied about it before! But I'll let you know which day it was, once the film gets developed and I post it.)

DAY 272

On my way back from a run, I saw a broken mirror which I thought looked really cool so I went back and got my camera and took some pictures of it.

DAY 270

Belated birthday balcony dinner with Katie, Natalie, and Mimi. Great views (did you know that you can actually see stars in LA?), delicious thai food, and some much-needed catching up. :)

Dana's a big Amazing Race fan:

DAY 265

While checking my email, I forgot that I had a quesadilla on the stove. Oops. Here it is, cooling on our front steps:

DAY 258

For today's photo, I used the Diana to take of a picture of the fake spider (from Halloween) on the Christmas wreath on our front porch.

DAY 257

A summer classic which I missed out on way too much this year: Rock Band at Vivian's. :(

DAY 255

Thai brunch at Berkeley. This papaya salad was so spicy that it made me feel light-headed! When the girl serving me asked how spicy I wanted it, I said, "Medium," thinking that I could handle it. I've eaten my share of Thai food and can usually handle it! I should have known when she gave me an "Okay, whatever you say, white girl" sort of look.

DAY 254

For today's photo, I tested out the Diana's pinhole mode while taking a picture of Madeleine running around looking for a place to poop.

Friday, September 10, 2010

DAY 253

McDonald's chicken nuggets: the best roadtrip food ever! Especially with honey mustard sauce, an iced coffee on the side, and an M&M McFlurry for dessert.

DAY 252

More Diana shots from Griffith Observatory and the Fashion District!

DAY 251

Part of the reason I took on this photo-of-the-day challenge was to start using all of my cameras. Somehow, I've escaped most of this year without using my Diana camera, the most difficult and fussy camera I own. The Diana uses 120 film, which is expensive to buy, expensive to develop, difficult to use, and often doesn't turn out great photographs. But, as much as I'd like to sell this camera (and all of its film), I need to finish out this year and see if I can get any good shots of out it.

So, for today's photo, I busted out the Diana and took a picture of my sister in Venice and some weird things we saw on the side of the road.

DAY 250

Kim's birthday! This is her only seconds after turning 21.

DAY 249

I like new magazines.

DAY 248

This is me, about 37 minutes after turning 21 in a parking lot for a Vons that closed at midnight so that at the exact moment of me being able to buy alcohol legally I couldn't do it there because the grocery store had just closed. Damn. Anyway, here I am back at the apartment, gritty and exhausted but ecstatic about what so far has been the best birthday weekend ever:

DAY 247

For today's photo(s), I took the Ikimono with me to FYF, which ended up being one of the most exhausting things I've ever gone to. It was pretty epic being able to see so many bands in one day! In the end, though, 12 hours of non-stop music defeated me and I went into a comatose state until we made a pit-stop at a taco truck. Mmm, resuscitation by tortillas and carnitas!
